Please note that due to the current extreme weather situation and floodings, there will be many road closures and closed excursion destinations! Everything you need to know about it you will find here!

Please continue to stay away from forests and bodies of water. There is still an acute danger of falling trees and mudslides!

Hiking and cycling trails are severely affected

  • Due to the onset of winter, bad weather & danger of mudslides and falling trees all hiking trails and mountain bike trails in the region are closed with immediate effect and until further notice!
  • Due to severe storm damage, the Ötschergräben and the Hinteren Tormäuer will be completely closed from September 17, 2024 until further notice! Walking on the paths is life-threatening in most areas! The Vorderötscher shelter remains accessible via the forest road. The condition of the Vorderen Tormäuer and the Trefflingfall has yet to be evaluated!
  • The Luchstrail is currently not accessible due to snow and the risk of falling trees.
  • The cycle path bridge over the Ybbs at Kögerlwirt is currently closed until further notice due to storms and floods.

The following destinations are affected by severe weather damage

  • Hochkar Bergbahnen: Due to the current snow situation on Hochkar, the Hochkarbahn will be closed on the weekend of September 21st - 22nd!
  • Due to the current snow situation, with large amounts of fresh snow and heavy rainfall, an increased avalanche danger (level 4) can be expected on Hochkar. On all slopes there may be fences covered by snow and loose stones (due to ongoing excavation work). Please avoid traveling to Hochkar unless absolutely necessary.
  • Latschen-Alm at Hochkar is now closed until further notice due to bad weather.
  • Ybbstalerhütte: currently closed until Friday, Sept. 20th, 2024
