Lush forests and lush meadows frame the city of towers, the river finds its way through. Waidhofen an der Ybbs looks back on a proud history that is present in the cityscape. Old and modern are carefully combined here. The proud Rothschild Castle is reminiscent of earlier periods of rule; in 2007 it was brought into the modern age. Since then, thanks to architect Hans Hollein, the cube has been enthroned on the highest tower, which can be visited with an entry to the 5-Elemente-Museum.
Numerous short and long hiking trails lead around the city and always offer a breathtaking view of Waidhofen.
As a sweet conclusion after strolling over the inner city pavement, past the shop windows of the small exquisite shops, a visit to one of the inner city coffees is worthwhile. The aroma of pastries is based on traditional recipes and freshly ground beans.
