Skitouring at Hochkar

Information for ski tourers at Ybbstal Alps

As a general rule, ski touring and walking on the prepared slopes of the Hochkar ski area is prohibited at all times. Additionally, skiing on closed slopes or using the slopes outside operating hours (4:00 PM to 9:00 AM) is not allowed. Learn more here.

However, ski touring enthusiasts have the opportunity to enjoy a ski touring experience off the main slopes at Hochkar. Starting this season, a dedicated uphill track begins at parking lot P4 and leads to the mountain lake at the edge of the ski area. From there, you can descend via the Family Slope (easy) or the Thomas Sykora Slope (hard).

Please note that this is only possible with sufficient snow coverage. The use of the uphill track is at your own risk, and any closures must be strictly observed.
