Parking facilities along Ybbstal bike path

Find yourself a spot to park!

Traveling with your own car offers many guests more flexibility and independence. Along the Ybbstalradweg as well as at the train stations there are sufficient parking facilities for all cyclists.

Start in Ybbs an der Donau:

If you want to start your bike tour along the Ybbstalradweg in Ybbs, it is best to travel via the A1, take the Ybbs/Wieselburg exit and follow the B25 into the town area of Ybbs an der Donau.

Free parking in Ybbs:

Donaulände parking lot (near Stadthalle). Approx. 4km from the freeway exit.

Weekend/holiday: Parking lot leisure center, stadium (Sportplatzstraße).

Start in Amstetten:

From the freeway exit Amstetten West (coming from Linz/Salzburg) or Amstetten Ost (St.Pölten/Vienna) follow the signs to the Veranstaltungszentrum/Johann-Pölz-Halle. Close by is the Naturbad Amstetten with numerous parking spaces.

Free parking in Amstetten:

Parking lots Naturbad Amstetten (Stadionstraße).

Start in Waidhofen an der Ybbs:

Coming from Salzburg/Linz on the A1 take the exit Oed and follow the signs via L84 and B121 to Waidhofen an der Ybbs (approx. 25km from the highway exit).

Coming from St.Pölten/Vienna on the A1 take the exit Amstetten-West and follow the B121 to Waidhofen an der Ybbs (approx. 25km).

  • Parking around the Lokalbahnhof (access via Pocksteinerstraße, MON-FRI charges apply)
  • Buchenberg Nature Park parking lot (Färbergasse, access via B121 towards Weyer, MON-FRI charges apply)
  • Schlosscenter-Parkgarage - currently closed until autumn 2024 due to restoration wordk (access via Unterzeller Brücke, Am Schlossplatz, MON-SUN charges apply, daily maximum tariff € 6,50)

  • Free parking for bike path users at Waidhofen main station (for buses and cars), distance to Ybbstalradweg approx. 2km (access via Südtiroler Platz 1)

Further parking facilities along the route in the Ybbstal:

Along the heart of the Ybbstalradweg between Waidhofen an der Ybbs or Ybbsitz and Lunz am See you will find several specially signposted parking areas for cyclists. You can recognize these by the parking sign with the green additional note "Ybbstalradweg":

Gstadt:

Park&Drive Gstadt (free of charge, access via Opponitzer Straße 2, 3340 Waidhofen).

Park&Drive Ybbstalradweg (free of charge, access via Maisberg 60, 3341 Ybbsitz)

Since the two parking lots in Gstadt are very quickly full, parking in Ybbsitz at the former train station is a good option (access from the 22 via Schwemmau). The detour to Ybbsitz is about 6km long. Via the Kleiner Ybbstalradweg (on bike paths and quiet side roads) you reach the Ybbstalradweg near Gstadt.

Ybbsitz:

Parking lot at the former train station (access via Schwemmau, 3341 Ybbsitz).

Opponitz:

Parking Furth (near Hornleitenbrücke, about 3km before Opponitz on B31).

Parking lot Thann 12, (Hojas-Platz ASZ)

Parking Seeburg (approx. 3km after Opponitz at B31)

Hollenstein an der Ybbs:

Krenngraben parking lot (turn off B31 towards Weyer, Klein-Hollenstein),

Parking lot Ybbsbrücke (near warehouse),

parking lot Blamau (approx. 2km after Hollenstein at B31 direction St. Georgen am Reith)

St. Georgen am Reith:

Göstling an der Ybbs:

Start in Lunz am See:

If you prefer to cycle downstream and follow the Ybbs towards the Danube, it is best to take the Amstetten Ost exit on the A1 and then follow the L89 to Purgstall an der Erlauf. From there the B25, leads to Lunz am See. Coming from Vienna, you will reach Lunz am See from the A1 exit Ybbs after 43km on the B25.

Parking possibilities in Lunz am See:

  • Parking lot at "Haus der Wildnis" (free of charge).
    Follow the Schulstraße from the center of the village in the direction of Amonhaus and the train station and turn left before the railroad crossing to get to the Ybbstalradweg.
  • Parking lot at the lake (daily maximum tariff € 7,50)
    Ideally located for those cyclists who want to start directly at the Lunzer See. However, the parking lot is often quite full during bathing weather.
  • Parking lot Töpperbrücke (about 3km from Lunz direction Göstling on B25, Kasten, free of charge)
