Lunz am See

The mountaineering village of Lunz am See is located in the heart of the Mostviertel region. Besides numerous hiking routes, the central attraction is Lower Austria's only natural lake with excellent water quality: Lake Lunz. If you like, you can learn exciting facts about the long history of the village and the surrounding area on a guided tour of the Hammerherren or Handwork Museum.

But as soon as the sun shines, it's time to get out, because the mountain is calling! Around the mountain village Lunz am See there are more hiking destinations than you can manage in a few vacations. In addition to mountain hikers and nature lovers, Lunz also has a lot to offer for guests with an affinity for culture: Unique in all of Austria is the "Lunzer Seebühne" - a multifunctional structure directly on the lakeshore. During the day, it serves as a bathing island and diving tower. In the evening, the step-shaped seating cover is lifted by water power and a covered spectator stand with 250 seats provides a unique ambience for cultural events.

In winter, Lunz am See also has a lot to offer - when the ice cover is suitable, the lake invites you to a unique ice-skating experience. Almost as important as our lake is skiing in Lunz. On the Maiszinken, for example, beautiful downhill runs of all levels of difficulty await you, after which traditional inns invite you to a cozy evening. Special highlights are the Sonnenalmloipe or guided snowshoe hikes.
