Description
The ÖTK Schutzhaus Hochkar is located directly at the Hochkar valley station at 1492 m. It was already opened in 1891 and has been managed since 1942 by the then newly founded ÖTK section Göstling/Ybbs, later after the merger of the sections Göstling/Ybbs and Scheibbs, by the section Scheibbs. The Schutzhaus is an ideal starting point for hikes, walks to the mountain lake or even a guided tour through the Hochkar cave.
On the Hochkar 360° Skytour you can enjoy a dreamlike view on a 120 meter high platform. The Heli-Kraft via ferrata and the Bergmandl family via ferrata offer a bit more action. At Schutzhaus you can borrow via ferrata sets for children and adults. For the little ones there is an alpine adventure hike and at the valley station an adventure playground makes the children's hearts beat faster.
In winter, the Hochkar skiing area is particularly popular because of its guaranteed snow.
The ÖTK Schutzhaus offers besides 100 seats in the guest room and Stüberl also a large terrace with up to 200 seats, where the guests are spoiled with down-to-earth home cooking and homemade desserts.
In addition, the Schutzhaus offers 32 plain sleeping places.
