The Ybbstalerhütte (1.343 m) at the edge of the wilderness area Dürrenstein can only be reached on foot. But then the wonderful Holzofenbratl tastes even better. By the way: As a "So schmecken die Berge" business, the ingredients come almost exclusively from the region. Hiking trails of varying difficulty levels make families and alpinists alike happy at Dürrenstein.
Summit and star gazing
Because there are so many tours around the Ybbstalerhütte, an overnight stay at the hut is recommended. The hut has been awarded the ÖAV environmental seal of approval and offers 47 cozy places to sleep. Then you will probably also see the fabulous starry sky, which shines especially clear here. For the family-friendly ascent, we recommend the paths from Steinbachtal or Stiegengraben (both about 2.5 hours on foot). Great tours also await around the hut. The three favorite most popular are the Große Hühnerkogel tour, the Noten tour with a visit to the summit cross and a view of Göstling, and the Dürrenstein tour with a fantastic view.
Opening hours: May 13 to October 26 open continuously, December until April open during the winter school holiday periods and on selected weekends
The reservation portal can be found on the website of Ybbstalerhütte, reservation can only be made via the reservation link on the website.
